Following the Macpherson Report he managed a national race equality scheme at Arts Council, England and became involved with the diversification of heritage programmes at the Victoria and Albert Museum. He then led the London Development Agency on D&I performance. This role evolved into leading Boris Johnson’s business diversity programme for 5 years and further opportunities working with diversity for the Olympics and piloting the Mayors’s Gold and Procurement standards with a wide range of organisations including Deloitte and EDF energy.

Shahid then re-positioned himself to create projects which allowed him to ‘bring the whole of himself to work’. By combining his corporate and creative personas, the “Diversity Works” portrait project was born (www.diversityworks.co). Exhibitions began in 2015 at the Law Society, followed by exhibitions at Mansion House, Linklaters LLP, KPMG UK, Thomson Reuters and Deloitte.
