This powerful and relevant list will help us showcase the Top 100 BAME leaders who have made a tremendous contribution in business and have made it on to the list, verified by independent judges and with a robust selection criteria.
The list has both public and private sector professionals and is UK based only as we wanted to showcase the talent in the UK. The list is borne from the Leadership 10,000 report and Public Sector 5,000 report, both sponsored and created by Green Park.
The list was launched in the House of Lords in partnership with the Sunday Times.

Lord Adebowale CBE Victor is Chief Executive of Turning Point, a health and social care organization providing services for people with complex needs including those affected by substance misuse, mental health issues, unemployment, housing issues, offending behavior and those with a learning disability. Turning Point is engaged with over 25,000 people in over 200 locations across England, employing over 3,500 people with a turnover of £125 million. In 2000, Victor was awarded the CBE for services to the New Deal, the unemployed, and homeless young people and in 2001, was appointed a cross bench member of the House of Lords. "I chose to sit on the panel because I think it's critical that business in the UK recognises diversity is a key factor in its future success. why not start here?" Lord Holmes of Richmond MBE Lord Holmes of Richmond MBE joined the House of Lords in 2013. He was swimmer on the Paralympic team for 17 years, winning 9 gold medals. He is the patron of a number of charities including the the British Paralympic Association, and has been on the social mobility committee since June 2015. He is currently a commissioner on the Human Rights Committee. "This list is incredibly important because if we want the senior management of UK Plc. to reflect the multi-cultural population it operates in we need to do all we can to maximize the potential of high-performing BAME candidates. Green Park have been pushing the diversity agenda for 10 years and know what works so I was delighted to be invited to be on the judging panel." The Baroness King of Bow Oona King is Diversity Executive at Channel 4, and a member of the House of Lords (appointed Baroness King of Bow in Jan 2011) and was previously Senior Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister on Equalities and Diversity at 10 Downing Street (2007-09). Oona was the second black woman elected to Parliament as MP for Bethnal Green & Bow from 1997-2005; she became PPS to the Minister for e-Commerce, and then PPS to the Secretary of State for Trade & Industry. "Diversity isn't about ticking boxes, it's about finding talent and sparking creativity. That's why I'm delighted to help find the top 100 BAME leaders; because they bring with them the top 10,000 BAME leaders, and that's a game-changer for British business." Trevor Phillips OBE Trevor Phillips is a writer and television producer. He is co-founder of Webber Phillips Ltd, a data analytics provider. From 25 March 2015, for a three-year term, Trevor will serve as the President of the Partnership Council of the John Lewis Partnership. He is the first external appointment since 1928. He is also currently the Deputy Chair of the Steering Committee of the National Equality Standard and Chair of Green Park Diversity Analytics. "We know that many business leaders say they’d like to attract a more diverse range of recruits for senior roles, but that they can’t find worthy candidates. We’d like to make their life easier, and we really hope that this list will put an end to that particular obstacle." The Rt Hon. the Baroness Royall of Blaisdon Jan is an active member of the House of Lords focusing on a range of issues including diversity and inclusion, health, housing, social affairs and youth policies. She is also a strategic adviser. Jan was appointed in 2004 and served in various Government positions - Leader of the Lords and a member of the Cabinet, Chief Whip and a spokesperson on Health, Development and Foreign Affairs. Prior to that she worked in the European Commission, the UK Parliament and the European Parliament. Jan has great international experience and works on good governance and women’s issues in many countries. She is Pro Chancellor of the University of Bath, Visiting Professor at the Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College, Chair of the People’s History Museum in Manchester and a trustee of other national and local charities. “I have always been passionate about social justice and equality, and these are inextricably linked with diversity and inclusion. For many years I have been developing and sometimes implementing policies to try to to improve the opportunities and life chances for people in this country and the European Union. One of my proudest achievements in Government was steering the Equalities Bill through the Lords. Legislation is important but it is only a small part of bringing about change in society. Action underpinned by cultural change is needed to transform the lives of individuals and the society in which we live.” |
